Medical Elective in St Vincent

Caribbean elective placements that work with community groups and charities to make a real and lasting difference

The Caribbean is a wonderful choice for an elective. You will be able to make a real and last difference by working on community health projects and then spend your free time on white sandy beaches or swimming with turtles.

The elective placements are split between the three major medical facilities in St Vincent; Milton Cato Hospital, Arnos Vale Medical Centre and Integrated. This means we can be highly flexible with your specialities and placement. If you wish to be split across a number of different specialities we can arrange this.

The hospital and medical centre will be very different to what you have experienced so far, with many pieces of equipment that you take for granted being in short supply. You will have to think on your feet, adapt and learn new ways to treat patients. The doctors will be on hand to answer questions and share their learning with you.

You will be based in the hospital Monday to Friday 9 am to around 4 pm.

You will also be presented with the opportunity to work on a number of other medical projects, such as the World Pediatric Project, free community health fairs and injury prevention with national sports teams.
